I will have some hellebore seeds available starting in late April – June. They are only available during this time as they must be sown fresh for best results.
Seedlings will be available in early spring. Much easier to grow your own if someone has already germinated them for you! I have sown an awful lot of seed this year so have some seedlings to share in the spring (2025).
Please note seed MUST be sown fresh for best results.
Hellebore seeds should be sown immediately into well drained, moisture retentive compost. Leaf mold or composted bark mixed with compost is ideal. Sow into normal pots and leave outside in sheltered, fairly shady place. Protect from small animals if necessary with wire mesh.
Hellebore seeds need a bit of moisture combined with warm temperatures followed later by dropping temperatures. They usually germinate around November/December. When sown fresh and given the right conditions, at least 90% germinate the same year.
